Political crisis a strain to donor funding in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe, is not among the 115 countries that have signed the Paris Declaration. Yet the country remains in a political crisis and has suffered strained relations with donors.
As governments, donors and civil society activists gather in Accra, Ghana for the 3rd High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness, women’s rights organisations and activists say the declaration does not sufficiently address women’s concerns.

New aid modalities: Gender issues cry for greater attention

While civil society organisations welcomed the new order as one that would enhance accountability and ensure result-based approaches in the use of donor money, they had serious reservations with how gender issues would be addressed.

In 2005, the world witnessed a milestone as donors, governments and other development partners said it was not business as usual as they adopted the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness.

World Bank’s dial-a-corruption service

You can call in and give us information. We don’t take corruption lightly at all,” World Bank’s vice-president for Africa, Obiageli Ezekwesili said.

Any one can now call up the World Bank to report corruption cases, the Bank’s senior official for Africa says.
